Even though I have a lengthy list of topics to talk about regarding communication, I found myself unable to articulate my thoughts. My mind seemed incapable of mustering the necessary focus and clarity.
I questioned myself why this was the case.
The reason behind my struggle became crystal clear as I reflected on my current situation. As a small business owner, I have entered a journey that triggers a multitude of thoughts and emotions.
I realized that it is not only communication skills, positive communication, and corporate trainings have to deal with; it is the path there, growing as a known communicator that is an additional element for me.
Building that path is what is actually difficult for me, getting my word and face out there. Finding a way in a myriad of ways, and making it happen requires dedicated effort and perseverance.
Excluding others from this transformative journey would be strange and odd, as I place great value on honesty and transparency. It would feel odd and unjust not to address this significant aspect of my life and the business of Maria Repova Positive Communication.
Challenges and Restrictions As a Newbie On a Network Market
In a world where contacts and familiarity reign, how does one successfully enter a market where they are unknown?
Sometimes, and especially in the last weeks it has felt slightly overwhelming as there a myriad of obstacles that I as a foreigner need to break through and work against, and this has driven me to ponder on the question:
What is the point?
I live in the Czech Republic as an expat. Residing in a "foreign" country, in the sense that I did not grow up here, as an expat brings several obstacles and limitations. Despite having moved here some 15 years ago, my time in Bolivia for 4 years further adds to the complexity.
The language barrier remains a challenge, even though I work on it and strive to improve my fluency on a daily basis.
While my life revolves around English, it poses a disadvantage in a non-English-speaking country. Although I can communicate in Czech, it falls short as I can not enter the Czech-only speaking market, or work in Czech-only companies, even though I understand the issues of communication. So, how can I navigate the Czech-speaking environment and continue doing what I love?
Exactly. This is what I think about. All. The. Time.
Having not grown up in the Czech Republic, and leaving the workforce due to pregnancy, maternity leave, and then a transatlantic move, I had neither fostered any school/uni/activity network nor and work-related network. Upon my return, I continued the path of private English teaching, leaving me again of a social network. In a market where contacts and familiarity reign supreme, how does one overcome the challenge of being unknown?
Exactly. This is what I think about. All. The. Time.
As a single mother, I bear the sole responsibility for my daughter's life while managing all household expenses on a single income. Money restraints are a constant reality, leaving no safety net for unexpected bills.
As a new small business owner, the financial demands are substantial. Investing in various aspects is crucial, yet the unclarity of competing ideas and expenses can be overwhelming. Where would the small budget I have, be of the best value and usage? Breaking through the noise organically is an almost impossible challenge. Creating a strategic plan and raising awareness about my business requires capital. The question remains: where will the necessary funds come from within my limited business budget?
Exactly. This is what I think about. All. The. Time.
As a small and new business, I must be my own accountability coach, I must consistently show up, every single day regardless of the circumstances. NO matter how demotivated or hard if feels at that moment. Setting daily goals and executing them becomes paramount without the presence of someone overseeing my progress. Without anyone to provide guidance or assurance, I must rely solely on my own judgment to determine the right path forward.
Anyhow Pushing Forward as a Small Positive Communicator
These challenges I face are just the tip of the iceberg. As a business owner, my life extends beyond the positive communication training I conduct. It's crucial to shed light on the multitude of obstacles and trials that lie ahead, even if it feels daunting. Perhaps we can enter on this journey together, for this is who I am—open and personal. Keeping my experiences to myself seems somewhat odd; sharing them is essential.
Together, let's navigate this path, embracing the ups and downs as I grow and learn and it might just be that you grow and learn with me.
I have come to the realization that I do have to push on forward, not for a fancy life earning 6-figures monthly, as often is portrayed in media as success, I have to push forward as I honestly think that what I do is important.
The impact of words stays within us, as evidenced by my stark recollection of a teacher's toxic traits from 20 years ago. Even now, his hurtful words resurface frequently in my thoughts. At 17, I was subjected to his remark, claiming that I would become nothing but a burden on the system. He, in his 40s, uttered these damaging words.
Words possess immense power, shaping our emotions and influencing our self-perception. Unfortunately, such instances as described above occur far too frequently, poisoning individuals and environments alike. To foster healthier workplaces, offices, homes, and lives, we must carefully consider the impact of our words and the messages they convey.
Let us work collectively to create an environment where positive communication skills prevail, uplifting and empowering one another.
If we like what we do, if we like were we work, if we feel valued, respected and listened to we ultimately work better and produce more.
As a new business owner, I understand that our work encompasses a significant portion of our lives, whether we realize it or not. It is crucial to recognize this and actively strive for improvement in this area as well.
After all, it is your life!
With this realization, I am determined to keep pushing forward, taking one step at a time, despite the occasional chaos, forgetfulness, and the feeling of constantly missing things. Even though I feel lost with my lack of network possibilities and general lack of network. If I Keep striving I will be opening doors to new opportunities. I firmly believe that positive communication serves as a valuable tool in enhancing both our inner dialogue and our interactions with others. It has the power to bring people together, fostering meaningful connections.
This is my genuine passion and purpose—to utilize the power of positive communication to create better inner and outer conversations, ultimately bringing people closer. Recognizing the significance of this mission, I am committed to keep working, navigating through the challenges and obstacles that come my way.
